The almost uninhabited British Virgin Islands are havens of tranquillity. From the buccaneers' dens they were in the 17th century, they have become havens for yachts and sailing boats, as well as billionaires. Countless celebrities have bought property or even islands here. More arid than the other Antilles, their rugged terrain masks beaches that are often still unspoiled. In the villages, red roofs cover the huts, whose walls explode in a profusion of bright colors. Add to this a typically British cachet: red telephone booths, quiet little pubs. But the blue lagoon waters are a reminder that you shouldn't leave the Virgin Islands without a dip in paradise.
