Located halfway between Scotland and Iceland, the Faroe Islands are undoubtedly among Europe's least-known islands.
They boast fabulous, tortured landscapes, with sheer cliffs overlooking the Atlantic storms. A destination of choice for those who appreciate a grandiose natural setting close to home. The archipelago comprises a total of 18 islands, each with its own character. Swept by all the winds of the ocean, they are lush and green, and are home to 70,000 sheep. More numerous than the 50,000 registered inhabitants. You can't get enough of the colorful houses with grass-covered roofs, the wooden churches and the thousands of fluttering birds. Many travellers are content to make a short stopover here, but beware: there's a great risk of regretting not having planned a longer stay.
