Ireland

Land of legends

The Emerald Isle is also home to lively pubs, catchy tunes, colorful houses, bright freckles and, above all, a vibrant Gaelic culture.

A land of ghosts, mystical characters and legends that flirt with reality, green Ireland is a land battered by the elements. A climate that has forged its sometimes harsh, sometimes gentle, always inspiring landscapes. But also the character of its people, who never miss an opportunity to party, sing and dance. And if the Irish have remained so welcoming and convivial, it's perhaps also because they have experienced so much tragedy in their history, and know better than anyone else that every moment is worth making the most of.

Ideal for

Cultural, golf, language courses, city-trip, minitrip, water sports, trekking, photography.

Did you know?

That Lake Loughareema, in County Antrim, mysteriously disappears and reappears.

The must-haves

  1. Drive the Wild Atlantic Way, a 2,500 km coastal road that crosses 6 regions with a wide variety of landscapes.
  2. Walk above the Cliffs of Moher.
  3. Walk along the Giant's Causeway, a unique geological formation.
  4. Visit the island of Skellig Michael, a former hermit refuge, famous for its stone cell churches.
  5. Spend a weekend in Dublin and experience its nightlife.
  6. Spend an evening in a pub, preferably one where there's a concert.

Between us

  1. Brú na Bóinne, a Unesco World Heritage site, is a marvel. Built before the Pyramids, it is one of the world's most important prehistoric sites, and contains the largest concentration of megalithic art in Europe.
  2. Take a look at Dark Hedges, a legendary alley lined with majestic trees and made famous by the «Game of Thrones» series.
  3. Many travelers come to celebrate St. Patrick's Day with the Irish on March 17. On the program: parades, fireworks, all kinds of festivities and lots of Guinness.
  4. The pub is the best place to make new friends. And if you're lonely, you won't be for long.

When to go?

From spring to autumn, when the days are longer, bearing in mind that Irish weather can be fickle in any season. Or on March 17, to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.

Packing

Clothing for every situation: sun, rain, wind, cold. And it's not unusual to experience all four seasons in one day. Even on your summer vacations, be prepared for a little winter break.
