Spain

1000 destinations in one

With over 7,000 kilometers of beaches, Spain is an invitation to relaxation and seaside pleasures. But that's not all...

Its costas and islands (the Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean and the Canary Islands in the Atlantic), sometimes lively, sometimes havens of tranquility, are incredibly diverse destinations. But Spain is plural: you can discover it at the hectic pace of a citytrip to Seville, Cordoba, Valencia, Zaragoza, Barcelona or Madrid, all historic cities that never sleep. You'll fall in love with its sun-drenched white villages, rich museums, boutiques, gastronomy, fine produce and wines. Last but not least, Spain seduces visitors with its incredible number of wide-open natural spaces, covering ecosystems as varied as mountains, forests, steppes, marshes, semi-deserts and even volcanic zones!

Ideal for

Seaside breaks, water sports, scuba diving, trekking, shopping, golf, winter sports, city-trips, short breaks.

Did you know?

That there are more fiestas and festivals in Spain than days in the year.

The must-haves

  1. Stroll through the gardens of the Alhambra in Granada.
  2. Visit Bilbao's fabulous Guggenheim Museum.
  3. Marvel at Gaudi's architectural genius at the Sagrada Familia and experience Barcelona's nightlife.
  4. Explore the paths of the Balearic Islands, from cove to cove.
  5. Visit inland walled cities such as Avila, Cuenca and Segovia.
  6. Explore the Canaries from island to island, each one different from the next.

Between us

  1. Fourteen national parks and over 200 nature reserves reflect our determination to protect species such as the lynx, wolf and bear, which are rare or extinct elsewhere.
  2. Try the famous Camino de Santiago, one of the most beautiful walks in the world.
  3. Spain is no slouch when it comes to festivals like Valencia's Fallas, which last 10 days and nights!
  4. In Spain, mealtimes are staggered, and people tend to eat standing up at the bar rather than at tables. Outside tourist areas, look for cafés and bodegas, while classic restaurants are rarer.

When to go?

Between April and October, the climate is sunny and warm. The sea is warmest in August and September. In winter, you can ski in the Pyrenees and Sierra Nevada. On the Canary Islands, the weather is good all year round, although winter is a little wetter.

Packing

In summer and all year round in the Canary Islands, light clothing. In mid-season and winter, warmer clothes, a raincoat and/or an anorak, especially inland and in the mountains.
