United Arab Emirates

100% excess

Parachuting over artificial islands, diving in a mall aquarium, skiing at 50°C - nothing is impossible here. The United Arab Emirates, led by Dubai and Abu Dhabi, guarantee permanent shock.

They emerged from the desert sands in just 25 years! Since then, they have continued to expand and develop. Where once a few small villages of pearl fishermen lived, they are now the world's leading cities! In all, seven emirates came together in 1971 to form a truly atypical federal state, once unknown to all but now a must on the world map. Thanks to oil money, large-scale projects follow one another at an ever more frenetic pace. Some will never see the light of day, while others promise to set new records. Architecture, culture, nature - the Emirates are a permanent shock.

Ideal for

Seaside, cultural, shopping, safari, photo, honeymoon, scuba diving, water sports.

Did you know?

That in Dubai, there are no addresses or mailboxes (and therefore no door-to-door mail). We find you by describing your home.

The must-haves

  1. Stay in Dubai and admire its huge landmarks such as the Burj Khalifa or, right next door, the world's largest shopping mall, its giant aquarium or its early evening fountain show.
  2. Take a trip to the Liwa desert, considered one of the most beautiful in the world.
  3. Stay in Abu Dhabi, the other Emirati giant, famous for its magnificent mosque and Louvre museum.
  4. Take an African safari on the island of Sir Bani Yas.
  5. Visit Sharjah and its old town, a throwback to the emirates of yesteryear.

Between us

  1. In Dubai, you can withdraw gold directly from an ATM.
  2. You need a license to consume alcohol and have it on your premises. It's a fairly easy license to obtain, though.
  3. True to tradition, Emiratis love camel racing. But today, the couriers are ridden by... remote-controlled robots.
  4. In the Emirates, speed limits are rarely respected and fast drivers can have a field day.

When to go?

From November to April, temperatures become bearable again, and nights can even be cool. From May onwards, heat and humidity due to evaporation from the sea make the air suffocating.

Packing

Wear light clothing and avoid excessively revealing outfits when you leave the hotel. Add a sweater and jacket if you're going away in winter.
